Why Munji Rates Differ
- Moisture: fresh paddy with high moisture gets a lower rate; dry paddy fetches more.
- Variety: long-grain basmati and Kainat/1121 types are worth about twice as much as coarse IRRI paddy.
- Broken grain and quality: mills pay less for paddy with more broken or chalky grains.
- Arrivals: in the peak harvest weeks of October–November, heavy arrivals usually push rates down.
From Munji to Rice: What Does Milled Rice Cost?
After milling, about 60–65% of paddy weight becomes rice. Wholesale milled basmati rice is about Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 13,400 per 40kg in Punjab mandis, and retail IRRI-6 rice is around Rs. 154 per kg (PBS). See the full rice price in Pakistan page and all crops on mandi rates today.
