Gandum Ki Sarkari Qeemat: Kisanon Ka Rs 5,000 Ka Mutalba
The Pakistan Kissan Rabta Committee (PKRC) held protests across the country on Sunday, 18 October, demanding a “guaranteed” wheat support price of Rs 5,000 per maund. PKRC President Tariq Mahmood and Secretary General Riffat Maqsood said small farmers are being pushed to financial collapse by the high cost of diesel, electricity, fertilizer and seed. The farmers also demanded the restoration of PASSCO, a strong public procurement system, and an end to corporate land grabbing and GM crops.
Earlier this month the federal food minister said the Rabi 2026-27 support price would be “above Rs 4,000 per 40kg”, and a National Assembly committee recommended Rs 5,000. However, no price has been formally notified yet, even though wheat sowing in Punjab opens on 1 November. Check today’s wheat price in Pakistan.
Ganne Ka Rate: Rs 700 Aur 1 November Se Crushing Ka Mutalba
Farmer groups meeting in Multan on 18 October asked the government to fix the sugarcane price at Rs 700 per 40kg and make mills start crushing by 1 November 2026, with fair weighing and prompt payment. Pakistan Kissan Ittehad’s Khalid Mahmood Khokhar said the cane area has risen about 21% this season (the groups’ own estimate). Kissan Bachao Tehreek said Sindh mills had already missed their usual mid-October start.
As of 20 October no crushing date or 2026-27 cane price had been announced by the federal government or the provinces. Last season crushing began on 15 November 2025, and Punjab mills paid an average of about Rs 401 per 40kg. According to the Federal Committee on Agriculture, sugarcane production in 2025-26 was a provisional 97.2 million tonnes. See the latest sugarcane price in Pakistan.
