Ehsaas Kafalat Program, as it is better known, is a subprogram of BISP 8171 which focuses on offering financial aid to Pakistan’s underprivileged citizens. This program aiming at poverty alleviation by providing monetary assistance to low-income families is a step towards combating one of the most concerning issues of Pakistan.
Women are encouraged to be the active participants of this scheme which is why they are the aid recipients. It is estimated that a household with a net income of sub 25 thousand Pakistani Rupees is eligible to apply on the application portal or alternatively submit their CNIC number via SMS to 8171. Once they are considered eligible, the beneficiaries are offered financial relief on a quarterly basis where they are sent ~PKR 13,500 which is utilized towards acquisition of essential services such as food, healthcare, and education.
The Ehsaas Kafalat Program is a flagship initiative of the government. With millions of people set to benefit from it upgradement in living standards. Additional aid under the scheme includes and is not limited to: Ehsaas Emergency Cash, Rashan Riayat, Scholarships, signifying expansion of government’s initiatives towards poverty alleviation.
