Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has greenlit a big electric bus scheme to offer clean, modern transportation throughout the province. With 1,500 electric buses being rolled out, the project aims to transform public transport in Punjab.

The project will be phased, with several cities covered:

Phase 1: Lahore & Gujranwala (380 Buses)

  • Lahore – Punjab’s capital, is given priority to electric buses.
  • Gujranwala – A major industrial city in the first phase.
  • Deadline: Service to commence by June 2024.

Phase 2: Expansion to More Cities

The second phase will cover:

  • Sargodha
  • Sheikhupura
  • Sialkot
  • Gujrat
  • Rahim Yar Khan
  • Dera Ghazi Khan
